Gleason throws shutout in 9-0 victory over Rockford

Jake Gleason threw his first complete game shutout as a member of the Athletics to lead Delano to a 9-0 win over the Rockford River Bandits on Friday night.

Gleason pitched nine shutout innings against the River Bandits, allowing just six hits and three walks while striking out 5 against his former team.

Delano improves to 18-9 overall wih the win over Rockford.  Delano had their first inning scoring streak snapped at five games. Delano took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Josh Hiltner.

Delano added two runs in the fourth, extending its lead to 3-0. Ryan Hayes led off the inning with an infield single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nate Meyers.  Josh Hiltner singled to advance Hayes to third.  Hayes would score on a grounball error by Rockford off the bat [Adam Schelper] and advanced Hiltner to third base.  Schleper would steal second base and Hiltner would score on the throw.

Delano would further extend its lead in the seventh with five runs. Jeff Althoff led off the inning with a double and would score on an RBI single by Ryan Hayes. Nate Meyers drew a walk and Josh Hiltner would reach safely on a sacrifice bunt with an error to load the bases. Adam Schleper singled to left to score Hayes and advance the runners. Jesse Berg hit a sacfice fly to score Meyers. Toby Hanson was walked to load the bases and Joey Althoff was hit by a pitch to score Hiltner. Brady Miller reached safely on a fielders choice grounball to score Schleper from third.

Offensively the Athletics were led by Adam Schleper who finished the game 3-4 with 2 RBIs and Jeff Althoff who finished the game 2-4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored.
