The Athletics picked up their fifth win of the season on Saturday night with a 6-4 win over the Loretto Larks on Kid's Night.

The Athletics used clutch hitting to muster out a win as the bats were quiet most of the evening. The Athletics got on the board first with two runs in the second inning off Loretto starting pitcher, Nick Pruden.  Ryan Hayes led off the inning with a single, Josh Hiltner drew a 1-out walk, Adam Schleper reached safely on an error by Loretto shortstop Kent Koch to load  the bases for Jeff Althoff. Althoff followed up with a 2-RBI single, scoring Hayes and Hiltner to give the Athletics a 2-0 lead.

Loretto would take over the lead from the Athletics in the top of the third inning with four runs. The Athletics would retake the lead in the fourth inning with three runs. Jesse Berg drew a leadoff walk, [Josh Hilter] singled and Adam Jaunich drew a walk to load the bases and Larks pitcher, Nick Pruden was pulled from the game and relieved by Colton Petron. With the bases loaded, Adam Schleper hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield scoring [Jese Berg] from third base and trimming the Loretto lead to 4-3.  Jeff Althoff continued his hot hitting with a single up the middle  to tie the game 4-4, Josh Hiltner would score from second base and Adam Jaunich would advance to third base and would later score on a sacrifice fly by Trevor Jaunich.  The Athletics would lead 5-4 after four innings of play.

The Athletics would score an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Adam Jaunich drew a 1-out walk, stole second base, and then would score on another RBI single by Jeff Althoff.

On the hill, Matt Arens started the game and pitched five innings to pick up the win, Arens gave up four earned runs on six hits.  The bullpen was nearly perfect for the Athletics, in relief, Cody Mathisen tossed three scoreless innings, only allowing a hit and a walk. Trevor Jaunich pitched a perfect ninth and picked up his first save of the season.

Delano is now 5-0 on the season and will host the Maple Lake Lakers tomororow night, Sunday June 7 at 6:00 p.m., the Lakers have a 7-2 overall record on the season.
