DELANO MN--The Athletics were dealt their first loss of the season on Sunday night losing to the Maple Lake Lakers, 6-1.

The Athletics bat were stymied by Lakers ace Jeremy Schmidt who pitched a complete game allowing one run on six hits while striking out nine.

The Lakers scored first, with a run in the third inning off Athletics starting pitcher Jake Gleason. The Athletics would tie the game in the fourth inning when Jesse Berg drew a 1-out walk and would later score on an RBI double by John Magee.

The game remained tied 1-1 through six innings, until the Lakers would score five runs in the top of the seventh inning, knocking Jake Gleason out of the game and cruising to a 6-1 victory. In relief of Jake Gleason, Tyler Hannan tossed 2 2/3 innings.

Offensively the Athletics struggled to hit with runners in scoring position, finishing the game leaving nine runners on base.
Kevin Jaunich and Trevor Jaunich finished with two hits apiece.

The Athletics now have a 5-1 overall record on the season.
